I was born and raised in the Lowveld (pronounced Lowfeld) of South Africa, close to the Kruger Park game reserve. The direct translation of Lowveld to US English is Low Country. Both are beautiful places and dear to our hearts. We wanted to link our past with our future, and we came up with the name Lowfeld Soul Foods.
My wife Gebri comes from the Boland, where she came to love sharing her love for food & wine. Both of our dads sold life insurance, and I can remember from a young age coming home from school, my dad and hers would be entertaining and braaing out under the big oak tree in Nelspruit, always with many friends and customers.
We wanted to share the food we grew up with and have been making for ourselves for 14 years with our friends and new neighbors.
We love South African food, especially biltong, droëwors, and boerewors. We have added some personal favorites and have a lot more to come.
